This village is not just a picturesque corner of the Carpathians, impressive colorful culture and amazing landscapes. This is the place where you can taste delicious dishes of Carpathian cuisine, including real fresh cheese, Hutsulian banush, trout, just caught from the river, natural and organic products grown on this land, beer and various tinctures.

TRIP TO THE DAIRY “KRYNTA”

At an altitude of over 1000 meters above sea level, there is an amazing pylon with a beautiful view of Hoverla. There is a small private museum “Krynta”, where you can find not only varieties of carpathian cheese, but also you will be shown the whole process of its preparation and after that you can taste different types of dairy product, from ordinary cheese to the exclusive kinds – vurda and zhentica. You will learn more about the lifestyle of the Hutsuls, traditions of growing cattle, grazing cows and sheep, and if you are lucky, some secrets.

TROUT FARM

What could be better than taste of fresh trout? You can visit one of the local trout farms. Hospitable owners provide not only the freshest fish but also Hutsulian banush, cooked with cream and complemented with cheese and cracklings. A logical accompaniment to such a dinner will be a cup or two of nastoyanka (tincture).

FOOD IN AUTHENTIC KOLYBA

Hutsulian traditional cuisine is unique. Natural and ecologically clean products grown in mountain climate, recipes handed down from generation to generation. You can taste all of them in the authentic kolybas of Verkhovyna. You will definitely find yours – one where the relations of the hosts, the atmosphere and the food will not leave you indifferent.

VISITING BREWERS

“In Verkhovyna live beer in the morning makes Divo (miracle).” It’s not just a motto, it’s the truth of life, when it comes to the products of a local brewery, which deserves special attention of fans of this drink. In the brewery, the Hutsuls brew beer using Bavarian technologies. What does it mean? The cleanest Carpathian water, the best malt from Bavaria and also wonderful Ukrainian hop are used. As a result, you get a drink that any Oktoberfest envies.

NASTOYANKA TASTING

Another stop of the gastronomic tour in Verkhovyna is tasting nastoynka (tincture). This is a visiting card of the Carpathian region, which combines rest and health and a burst of joy. There are tasty and aromatic infusions, various herbs and fruits – Ukrainian ginseng, Carpathian juniper, local low-growing pine, Jinjura and many other things. Nastoyanka is considered a true elixir of youth used to treat various diseases. That”s why the locals live so long!
